Animation

To produce the illusion, that something is changing or moving visually on screen, is called animation.

Computer animation is the art of creating moving images via the use of computers. To create the illusion of movement, an image is displayed on the computer screen then quickly replaced by a new image that is similar to the previous image, but shifted slightly. This technique is identical to how the illusion of movement is achieved with television and motion pictures.

3D computer animation is widespread, 2D computer graphics are still widely used for low bandwidth and faster real-time rendering needs. Sometimes the target of the animation is to create multimedia software, sometimes the target is another medium, such as film.

We produce computer generated animations for a variety of uses for our clients:

  • Prototyping Software
  • Software Interface Design
  • Animations
  • Web Advertisements
  • Web pages
  • Games
  • Animated Cartoons

Our animation services include:

Vector-based animation

Graphic image animation

Video-animation composites

Interface animations

Our expertise in animation work allows us to provide you with the range of services to choose from:

Static Animations that play a pre rendered animated sequence.

Dynamic Animations that are user-controlled, interactive animations or games.

ActionScript Programming including mathematics, trigonometry, and physics formulas to motion graphics.

Scripted, coded animations that are highly powerful yet very small in file size.

Key framing and tweening techniques.

Motion principles such as velocity, acceleration, friction, easing, bouncing, and collision reactions.

Advanced motion techniques such as springs, coordinate rotation, conservation of momentum, and forward and inverse kinematics.

3D concepts like simple perspective, full solids, back face culling, and dynamic lighting.

Rendering animations in file formats like GIF, Quick Time, Shockwave and Flash to allow animation to be viewed on a computer or over the Internet.

Multimedia means that computer information can be represented through audio, graphics, image, video and animation in addition to traditional media of text and graphics.

The creative industries use multimedia for a variety of purposes ranging from fine arts, to entertainment, to commercial art, to journalism, to media and software services provided for any of the industries listed below. An individual multimedia designer may cover the spectrum throughout their career.

Multimedia for software interfaces are often done as a collaboration between creative professionals and software engineers.

Multimedia Development

Multimedia Presentations

Multimedia presentations may be viewed in person on stage, projected, transmitted, or played locally with a media player.

Text animation above: programmed text animation , 'random poetry', by Intellia Ltd.

Digital online multimedia may be downloaded or streamed. Streaming multimedia may be live or on-demand.

  • Multimedia Projector Files
  • Multimedia Movies
  • Slide shows

A broadcast may be a live or recorded multimedia presentation. Broadcasts and recordings can be either analog or digital electronic media technology.

Multimedia Video

We can produce stunning video effects for static and dynamic multimedia video projects.

  • Digital Video Production
  • Special Effects / Video Art
  • Digital Film Post production
  • Web Video, Interface, CD-Rom, DVD, TV and Film
  • Interactive Video Applications
  • Web Cam Applications

Web Applications

A Web application uses HTML and the browser to display content. Web applications are ideal for systems that modify static web pages, like a content management system for example. Web applications can display vast amounts of data, which Flash applications cannot.

Client-Server Technologies supported by Intellia:

Flash Remoting | XML | PHP | My SQL | ASP | .NET | Coldfusion MX

Multimedia Components

Multimedia components perform specific functions that can be included in a multimedia design for a multimedia product or service. We provide you with a range of components to choose from.

Interactive Video Wall: The video wall application can be modified to include a custom selection of playable video clips. The application was programmed in Flash using custom coded actionscript. The video clips are royalty free video clips which we acquired for the purposes of this video wall. In the near future we will be bringing 'homegrown' video clips to delight the viewer.

Flash Applications

A Flash application is used to, primarily, solve a problem by providing a rich user experience, seamless client-server communication, interactivity, and scalable robust, easy-to-use interfaces. A Flash application uses a Flash Player to display content which allows for sophisticated user interface designs that feel dynamic and alive. Flash applications can easily display a number of steps all on one interface, when using a web applications may span across five or six different screens, this makes Flash interfaces more efficient.

Multimedia Applications

Multimedia applications allow users to actively participate instead of just sitting by as passive recipients of information are called Interactive Multimedia.

EXAMPLE: Multimedia Software

The Auckland Nightlife Guide

The software is an interactive multimedia software guide of Auckland's nightlife, including bars, cafe's, restaurants, and nightclubs. Included features: Comprehensive business index and information, interactive map display, soundtracks, videos, photos, hyperlinks to businesses, event calendar and event information.

Programmed in Director MX, this software is deployable on almost any platform and device, including the web. The prototype could be extended to include access to ticketing and reservation systems, a guest book, a live web camera link to auckland locations, sightseeing information, as well as database integration for easy updating of business information (text, images, video clips, hyperlinks) listed by the program.

The program comes on CD-Rom and will automatically start when the disc is inserted. The user can also copy the file "auckland nightlife guide.exe" to their computer and play it by clicking on the icon provided.
